Fire safety in healthcare is not solely about the physical fire precautions provided; other important factors include the dependency of patients, fire hazards, management policies and the availability of sufficient and adequately trained staff. The Health Technical Memorandum 05-02 provides guidance to achieve a satisfactory standard of fire safety for the purpose of satisfying Part B of The Building Regulations. HTM 05-02 can be used in the design of new healthcare premises and extensions/alterations to existing healthcare buildings. This course is designed to improve knowledge and understanding of HTM 05-02 and explain the alternative approach to fire safety that healthcare premises require.
