Are you an elected member or a senior manager within a local authority? Do you want to gain a better understanding of the pressure facing your building control service? If you are, then this webinar is just for you.

The session will be delivered by Richard Scott, Head of Member Support at LABC. Richard has over 40 years’ experience in the construction industry, the vast majority having been spent in local authority building control, most recently as a Building Control Manager with responsibility for building control, local land charges and GIS.

Richard will take you through a wide range of topics, including:

  • The statutory duty and function of the local authority in respect of building control and building regulations
  • How competition has impacted the building control service
  • Chargeable and non-chargeable work
  • The ‘trigger’ for change and the new regime
  • Building Control – a regulated profession
  • Operation Standards Rules
  • The challenges for local authorities
  • How LABC is supporting the LABC network

Demonstrating your willingness to take an active interest in your building control service will be greatly appreciated by the team and will help you better support them to deliver on the council’s duties and functions in respect to building regulations.

This session is a great opportunity to improve your knowledge and network with likeminded peers, providing a safe environment for you to share your experiences.
