LABC Member Guidance Note to loft conversions in two storey houses - December 2022
Members(V2) As many members will recall the previous guidance on loft conversions in two storey houses considered the approach that covered fire resistance and means of escape in loft conversions. LABC had received several queries, from members, regarding the use of this guide when considering fire doors and the potential for enhanced detection with the use of “option 4 fire engineered approach”. This was put forward by the Construction Product Association (CPA). These queries meant that in conjunction with the Technical Working Group (TWG) this guide was removed from the LABC website in 2021. Following several meetings with the TWG this guide has been updated to version 2 as attached. Please review the guide and if there are questions from members, please direct them to consult@labc.co.uk.
